Stéphane Lavallée, PhD, is an entrepreneur specializing in “smart” medical devices (computer aided surgery, robotics, medical imaging, smart implants and instruments, etc.) and is the co-inventor of more than 60 independent patents. Stéphane has received the Bronze medal from the CNRS (French Centre for Scientific Research), the Maurice Muller Award for Excellence in Computer Assisted Surgery and the award from the Surgery Academy of Paris. In collaboration with Professors Benabid and Cinquin in 1989, Stéphane developed the first surgical robot system connected to medical images and currently used in routine clinical operations in neurosurgery. After co-founding and leading Praxim, he founded a network of startups specializing in medtech as well as multiple startups that were successfully acquired including Blue Ortho, A2 Surgical and Traumis Surgical. He has also established collaborations with medical companies, hospitals, surgeons and institutions, providing a network of deep expertise. Stéphane is the CEO and founder of eCential Robotics, Orthotaxy (acquired by Depuy Synthes, a J&J company) and the BizMedTech/MinMaxMedical accelerator. Stéphane is also a committed and active board member of Imactis.
